New Work + Introducing Hinge

My personal work has been a pretty well-kept secret around here the last few years. After a couple of shows in 2003 and 2004 (here, and here), I decided my personal work needed some time to evolve off the record, away from the pressure of a public forum, and while I hope it will never finish evolving, I have new work to share today.

These two pieces are the first in a long series that we'll be printing in editions of five over the next year. Each landscape is a mile marker along the path of my perpetual search for spaces that bear an element of poetry. I hope they will invite you to enter and experience them as they have invited me.

The growing series large format prints is for sale at my favorite new interior design studio... which brings me to the second topic of my post, Hinge, and to Angela Stone, the curator behind the brilliant endeavor. I'm thrilled to be a part of an incredibly talented group of designers and artists Angela is gathering, and, even more thrilled to work with Angela! Read more about Hinge at Chicago Home Magazine's Daily Dose, and visit us over at the shop here.

M + G

Rain drizzled the couple's enchanted wedding celebration with an extra measure of good luck. I watched on all day in a daze as these two charmed everyone present with their palpable grace and affection. Thank you and thank you again for inviting me to document this special moment.

Dinner Tonight at Ruxbin

It's official, Ruxbin, the long-anticipated new Neighborhood American Bistro soft-opens tonight! I've had the pleasure of watcing Ruxbin come together as Jenny, Vicky, and Ed have poured their energy and creativity and love into it over the last few months. I'm very excited to share images of the space created by Davide of Alter Ego, and to have the moules-frites again ( Jacob and I got a little preview a couple weeks ago).
Come on by for dinner!!

Dave + Jada

Welcome to Roscoe Village! Jada + Dave thought it would be great to have their portraits shot in their own backyard, and they were right. The abandoned (and slightly spooky) manufacturing plant around the corner gave their images a great Chicago neighborhood flavor, while the rain blew in (or pounded down, as the case may be) just in time for some surreptitious umbrella-sheltered kisses...

It was great getting to know you both. I can't wait to see you next year for your Ivy Room wedding!

ps. Have a peek into Dave + Jada's food-life over at better with butter.

M + G

Just in time for the couple's wedding at Hotel 71 tomorrow, here are my favorites from our evening spent in search of "wilderness" on the lakefront. Everything was covered in the most magical light...

Thank you both, I'm honored to be documenting your celebration tomorrow!
