Eva, oh Eva.

Last week Oksana and Sergey brought little Eva by for a visit. She couldn't keep her eyes off the camera, which made for one very happy photographer -- I kept imagining her looking at these photographs someday when she's the spitting image of her mother (sorry Sergey), and I felt so privileged to be able to show the future Eva just how adorable little Eva is, and how much her parents love her.

Thanks you three, it was a joy to be with you!

The Hunters

I had a chance to photograph the Hunters home this week before they move far far away. (A whole TEN miles to Evanston. So far.)
Michael + Sara have a mad collection of art, but I can't decide whether I admire the work on their walls or their work in the space. They've got a knack for spot-on vintage finds, and a brand new etsy shop to prove it.
Thanks for welcoming me!

Wouldn't this be the greatest place to call home?

Volcano, a little too late.

If this fierce Icelandic volcano could have slung ashes across the European skies LAST year instead of this, we could have been stranded here

here

or here.

Where would you like to be stranded today?

Samuel + Carrie

We had this wildly windy day in Wicker Park for our shoot last week -- we kept joking that the wind was a third character in Carrie + Sam's love story, a really great one by the way. You should hear the account of Sam's proposal ... I'll just say it involves a couple dozen of Carrie's favorite people hiding behind open newspapers in a subway car in Manhattan, armfuls of orchids, and one seriously creative guy.

Here's a few from the day, featuring Myopic, the Blue Line, and Big Star (my favorite badly-kept-secret hangout).

PS Sam is a film maker and creates these generous, incisive documentaries, as well as genius music videos.

Hand + Cloth Trunk Show

A few weeks ago I had the honor of hosting a little promotional fete for Hand + Cloth -- my friend Sarah's labor of love to open the doors of healing and education to girls raised in the brothels of Kolkata. Sarah's energy and dedication to these young women, as evidenced by the tremendous turn-out for the Trunk Show (who knew we could fit forty people into our little home studio at once!)is contagious. Of course the girls' jaw dropping handiwork certainly helped too! Thanks to all of you who came, I hope you're enjoying your Sari throws! (If you didn't make it out that night, it's never too late, you can pick up your one of a kind blanket here.)

Our donation chest gave guests a chance to contribute towards specific items -- one month's rent for a blanket studio, the yearly christmas party, etc. Each drawer held a different gift idea!
