lundi apres-midi: the registry (part one)

Today I'd like to introduce another one of my personal favorites... (in case you missed last week's launch, lundi apres-midi is a weekly column celebrating beautiful things I think you'll enjoy if you're planning a wedding, dreaming about one, or if you just enjoy beautiful things!)

Folks, meet Heath Ceramics. Rugged and still refined, this tableware makes for special and practical wedding gifting. I've heard stories of settings from the 60s often used and still intact! (And the small cereal bowls you see below, ahem, sturdy enough for kids--not to get ahead of ourselves.) Have a look at all the lovely mix and matchable glazes here and have a splendid afternoon!

Houston Adventures w/Jared & Lauren

Over the holidays in Houston, Jacob and I finally had a chance to hang out with our brother (my brother in-law) and his girlfriend (our friend) Lauren. They took us to D&D's for their famous breakfast burritos (I think they were something like 75 cents or a dollar each!), and then headed to the Menil to check out their extensive cross-section of art (which I highly recommend if you're ever in Houston). Throughout the day, I snapped a few photos of each of them to mark this their senior year in High School. Great fun. We love you guys!

lundi apres-midi

With the new year, I'd like to start a weekly column here at EJA Photo, just to share some of my favorite things with you--hopefully ones that will be pertinent if you're planning a wedding, dreaming about one, or if you just enjoy beautiful things. I'll be posting weekly on Monday, so peek in on your afternoon coffee break for a little day-brightener. For fun, I'm calling the column "lundi apres-midi," (french for monday afternoons)!

This week, I'd like to introduce the work of Melissa Joy Manning. I love personal takes on time honored traditions, and her rings would make for a delightful wedding set with a natural, handcrafted sensibility.

Keep an eye out for some new wedding and engagement slide shows this week!

News for a New Year

First off, I'd like to wish you all the best for 2009! I'm looking forward to what this year will bring. It got off to a great start with Justin & Victoria's wedding in Lafayette, Louisiana (on the 1st)-- I'll have some images to show you all soon!

In the mean time, I've received a bit of recognition for my contribution to my sister Stefanie's wedding, not as a photographer, but as a florist and baker! Yes, both! My dear friend Meghan (of Meghan and Robb, below) and I baked and frosted 250 or so cupcakes, and I had the privilege of designing Stef's and her bridesmaid's bouquets! The big news is that, thanks to Dave & Nancy's incredible photos of the day, we're featured in Chicago Bride magazine! Check out their blog for photos!

I thought I'd whet your appetite with this cake I made Jacob for his birthday! Cheers!
